Salary: £25.00 per hour

About the Role
Position Overview: Reporting directly to Liam Hughes, Curriculum Lead, this role focuses on delivering high-quality tutoring in GCSE Maths and English. The primary goal is to support students in enhancing their academic performance and achieving their target grades. The tutor will create and deliver personalized lessons that address the unique needs of each student, helping them gain a deeper understanding of the subjects and boosting their confidence.
Main Duties
Lesson Planning and Delivery:
- Plan and deliver engaging and effective tutoring sessions in GCSE Maths and English.
- Use a variety of teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles.
- Prepare and provide learning materials, resources, and homework assignments.
Assessment and Progress Monitoring:
- Assess students’ strengths and areas for development.
- Track and report on students’ progress and provide regular feedback to students and parents/guardians.
- Prepare students for GCSE exams through practice tests and revision sessions.
Individual Support:
- Offer one-on-one or small group tutoring tailored to the individual needs of each student.
- Identify and address any gaps in knowledge and understanding.
- Provide support with homework and coursework assignments.
Communication:
- Maintain open and effective communication with students, parents/guardians, and school staff.
- Provide regular updates on student progress and areas requiring additional focus.
- Participate in meetings with parents/guardians to discuss student progress and strategies for improvement.
Professional Development:
- Stay updated with the latest GCSE curriculum changes and teaching methods.
- Attend training sessions and professional development workshops as required.
- Share best practices and resources with colleagues.
Qualifications
- A degree in Mathematics, English, Education, or a related field.
- Experience in teaching or tutoring GCSE Maths and English.
- In-depth knowledge of the GCSE curriculum and exam requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Desirable:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching certification.
- Experience working with students with diverse learning needs.
- Proficiency in using educational technology and online tutoring platforms.
Skills and Competencies:
- Subject Knowledge: Strong understanding of GCSE Maths and English subject matter.
- Pedagogical Skills: Ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and accessible manner.
- Patience and Empathy: Understanding of the challenges students face and the ability to support them effectively.
