Here are the basic specs, with differences from the Pixel 9 Pro noted in brackets:
-
6.8-inch display (6.3-inch on the Pixel 9 Pro)
-
1344 x 2992 resolution (1280 x 2856 on Pixel 9 Pro)
-
Tensor G4 chip
-
16GB RAM
-
Storage options: 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB
-
5060mAh battery (4700mAh for Pixel 9 Pro)
So to sum up, the two phones are identical except for the display and battery size. They have the same colors, the same cameras, everything is the same except one is bigger and lasts longer. Where it gets really interesting with the Pixel 9 Pro XL is how it compares to last year’s model.

Last year’s Pixel 8 had a 6.2-inch display, while the Pixel 8 Pro had a 6.7-inch display. That means the 6.3-inch Pixel 9 Pro is actually a significant step down from the Pixel 8 Pro, while the 6.8-inch Pixel 9 Pro XL is roughly the same size. In reality, Google didn’t make the Pixel 9 Pro XL much bigger, it just made the Pixel 9 Pro smaller.
For those with smaller hands, this could be a godsend, and for those who want a bigger display, the Pixel 9 Pro XL is a great choice.
