JAMB is responsible for conducting the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) which serves as the entrance examination for candidates seeking admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions.
JAMB postponed registration date for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to Monday 3rd February, 2025, as against the previous date Friday 31st January, 2025.
JAMB spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin reveals the new date in a press conference saying the registration will commence on 3 February, 2025.
JAMB said the postponement was to address challenges that are necessary to implement new template for the registration.

JAMB stated further that it’s still checking for deceptive facilities in some Computer-Based Test (CBT) centers that use to get approval.
“These adjustments come in light of the recent suspension of certain law programmes at selected universities, as submitted to the Board by the Council for Legal Education,” the statement reads in part.
“The board acknowledges the disruption this may cause to candidates and other stakeholders and sincerely apologises for any inconvenience.”
Moreover, JAMB will not be conducting admissions for the the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) programme in 8 universities for 2025/2026 academic session.
Council of Legal Education suspended law programme in these universities hence JAMB decision not to conduct admissions in these institutions.
The following institutions are affected: institutions are Kwara State University, Malete, Ilorin, Kwara State; Bingham University, Karu, Nasarawa State; Redeemers University, Ede, Osun State; Western Delta University, Oghara, Delta State; and Taraba State University, Jalingo, Taraba State.
Others include Arthur Jarvis University, Akpabuyo, Cross River State; Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State; and Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State. Council of Legal Education (CLE), the highest decision making body for legal education in Nigeria has suspended law programme in the above institution pending scrutiny.
The board also controls the Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) that is where all the tertiary institutions offer their admissions to eligible candidates.
More than 1.5 million candidates are expected to register for the UTME when registration starts.

1. Get Your National Identification Number (NIN)
NIN is a compulsory requirement for UTME/DE registration. If you don’t have make sure you get before going for registration.
2. Ensure You Have a Registered Phone Number for Profile Code Creation
Before registration, you will get a profile code by sending your NIN on a registered phone number to a short code that JAMB will provide.
3. Have an email
Your email will be used to back up your profile in case you lost your phone number. Having an email is compulsory.
4. Make your choice of course to study
Making decision on a course you want to study is crucial. Choose a course you are passionate about have knowledge about. You and your family can decide on this. However, it all boils down to your dreams.
5. Choice of institution
Decide on which institution offers the course you want to study. Is the school fees affordable? Can my parents/ guardians be able to afford it? consider having a backup option such as a polytechnic or college of education
6. Subjects combination
Know which subject are required for your course. Each course has subjects combination. E.g engineering has maths, English, physics and chemistry.
